Jan/Feb Outings
We had 2 trips in a short time. Ham Wall on Sat 11th Feb and Bradford-on-Avon on Monday 13th. Reports from Peter -
Ham Wall
On Saturday 11th January ten of us visited the RSPB site at Ham Wall near Glastonbury. The weather was cloudy but a bit brighter in the afternoon. We spent many hours there just visiting a small number of hides but there was a wealth of bird life to see including herons, egrets, shovellers, great crested grebes and just after five o'clock we walked the few hundred yards onto Shapwick Heath to be treated to an amazing murmuration. This was the largest I had ever seen and was witnessed by most of us plus well over a hundred other people. A super day out and very well supported.
Bradford-0n-Avon
Six of us attended the Monday Club trip to Bradford-on-Avon on Monday 13th February. After a short time the sun came out and we had a lovely day. We visited the tithe barn, walked along the river, had lunch at The Bridge Cafe and then after walked up to Upper Tory to look at St Mary's Chapel and admire the great views of the town, At the bottom we visited the Saxon St Laurence Church and then onto Holy Trinity Church which was worth many photographs. Teas and cake followed at Weavers Walk ( I get everywhere) and then home after a really good day.
